The Sooner Theatre is lucky to have an amazing group of dedicated volunteers that help keep us going. If you are looking for a place to complete some required volunteer hours, or you simply love the theatre, please sign up to be a volunteer. The Sooner is a fun and rewarding place to work- and you get to see the shows for free!
Available Volunteer Positions:
Ushers:
Usher Volunteers arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to show time to prepare the house for our patrons. They tear tickets, hand out programs and show patrons to their seats during the hour prior to show time. They are then able to watch the show. Before and during the show, they are a positive face for the theatre and a resource for patrons with questions. Time commitment is about 1 and a half hours per show night.

Technical:
Technical Volunteers are required to be at the theatre for “tech week” which is the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the week we open a play or a musical in addition to all 6 performances of that show from about 7 until 10 pm. We can use help on spotlights, deck crew, the fly rail and the stage management team. Time commitment is about 30 hours.

Concessions:
Concessions Volunteers arrive 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to show time to pop popcorn and prepare the Sweet Shoppe for business. They sell concessions from one hour prior to show time through intermission. After intermission, they count their money drawer and clean up the Sweet Shoppe in preparation for the next night’s events. Time commitment is about 2 and a half hours per show night.

Set Building:
Set Building Volunteers help our technical director build the sets you see on our stage during our plays and musicals. Set building takes place during the day, evenings and on the weekends. Whether you like to work with power tools or you want to show your creative talents by paining a backdrop, we can always put you to work. Time commitment is as much or as little as you want to give.
